Join Our New “10 for 10” Donor Club and help us celebrate our animals!
Mills River Rescue and Sanctuary is celebrating our 10-year anniversary! The rescue was started in 2016 to provide a safe place for neglected, abandoned, and abused ponies and donkeys who just need a second chance. We are also a home to ducks, chickens, a pair of peacocks and several bunnies! As we look back over the past decade, there have been both moments of deep joy such as when a traumatized animal makes their first friend in the herd, and moments of heartbreak helping beloved senior ponies through their last days.
What does it take? It takes a small army of volunteers, two shifts a day, 365 days a year, in all weather, to feed animals, clean stalls and coops, move hay, and perform all tasks needed to keep the farm running. We are blessed to also have financial sponsors for some of the ponies and donkeys, and friends who send items from our wish lists. It truly takes a village to care for all the animals who find their way to us. We are so grateful to our current volunteers, donors, and sponsors.
We still hold our breath from month to month, hoping that feed prices don’t rise TOO much, that we don’t have any emergency vet bills, or extra repair costs. Unfortunately, we do have emergency vet bills, feed prices have gone up, and our farm does require plenty of repairs. This is why we are asking you to join our new “10 for 10” Donor Club to help care for these special animals.
To help sustain the rescue for the next 10 years and beyond, we are seeking supporters who will donate $10 (or more) each month. There is strength in numbers…if many people donate the equivalent of a cup of coffee and a muffin each month, it can have a significant impact on our little rescue. This steady stream of income will help us through the lean months, like winter and the heat of summer when we aren’t able to host visits and themed parties, which is how we typically raise money.
Your donation will fund: -$10/month……..2 days of hay for our donkeys, Marilyn and Grace -$100/month……15 days of medication for our special ponies, Jolie, Sweetness, and Lollipop -$1,000/month….4 weeks of manure disposal (yes, it really costs that much)
After 10 months, supporters will receive a fun thank you gift: -At the $10 level…..an original hoof stamp of the pony or donkey of your choice (or chicken/duck footprint, if you prefer-but we aren’t going near the geese!) -At the $100 level....a farm visit for 2 people and a photo with your favorite animal -At the $1,000 level…a private tea party for 6 people and a meet and greet with the animals.
You can also specify a custom amount when joining the “10 for 10” Donor Club. We’ll have a very special present for you too after 10 months.
All “10 for 10” Donor Club members will have access to a new private group on Facebook where you will get behind the scenes glimpses of life at the rescue and other exclusive content.
